Chrissie's Testimony: Image
I am blessed to come from a legacy of Christ-followers. I wish I could tell you that means I never, ever doubted my faith. But if I told you that, it would be a lie.
I accepted Jesus as my Savior as a little girl. I remember the day vividly. It was a scorching summer day, after Vacation Bible School. I remember praying with my mom’s best friend on the steps leading up to her kitchen from her family room. I remember acknowledging that I was a sinner and that Jesus was the only One who could save me. That day is etched into my mind in a way that very few memories are. It was the day I knew Jesus loved me!
I was a “good, Christian girl” growing up, but then I went to college. And, I lost my way. I started to doubt the Truth I had been taught all of my life. It was the darkest part of my life. Because I was not walking with the Lord. I was walking solely wherever I wanted to go. It was painful. . . so painful.
Thankfully, God is faithful and He was relentless not to let this child of His go. At some point, I found my way back to the church, and then the most wonderful thing happened—I fell in love with Jesus! It wasn’t about me anymore. Jesus finally became my everything! This didn’t happen overnight; it was a slow process for me. I don’t even think I realized it was happening at the time. But when I finally realized it, it took my breath away because. . . Jesus—He is my everything!
So, here is what I believe in a nutshell. I believe Jesus Christ humbled himself, leaving His throne in heaven, to become flesh and bones. . . to walk among us. He was born of a virgin. He was obedient to the Father, even unto death. He was perfect, even in the flesh, and that is how His death and resurrection made a way for us to come to the Father. Without the perfect, blameless blood of Jesus, we could never, ever have a relationship with the Father. Never. Our sin separates us from the Holy God.
Not only did Jesus die as the sacrifice for our sins, but He also defeated sin and death when He rose victorious from the dead. And, He will come again, to defeat Satan once-and-for-all. When He does, we will spend eternity worshiping at His feet!
In the meantime, Christ Jesus, in His infinite wisdom, has sent a Helper, a Counselor, to those who follow Him. The Holy Spirit dwells within believers and is a beautiful, mysterious part of the Triune God. I seek to know and understand Him more every day. I need Him every day.
I love Jesus. And, He loves me. And, I know that He loves you, too. What a joy it is to know Him.
